It is advisable to contact the wedding planner at least 12 to 18 months before the planned wedding date. This will give you enough time to discuss all the details and secure the best providers.
The planning can begin immediately after the engagement! An initial consultation with us will help to clarify your wishes and ideas, and together we will develop a tailor-made plan for your big day.
Citizens from European countries can legally marry in Portugal. The following documents are usually required:
– International birth certificate in long version
– International certificate of no impediment to marriage
– Identity card or passport with a validity of at least 6 months
– A power of attorney (Procuração) for the wedding planner to register the wedding at the registry office. The registration can be made at the earliest 6 months before the wedding. Witnesses are not required.
We generally advise against beach weddings as licenses and conditions such as wind and weather can be unpredictable. In addition, there is no exclusivity, which means that bathers could disturb your photos. Alternatively, you can choose wedding locations with a sea view or plan a photo shoot on the beach.
A church wedding requires registration with the desired church and the submission of certain documents. We will assist you with all the steps to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The priests usually give the speech in Portuguese, so a translator is recommended.
A symbolic wedding ceremony is not legally binding, but celebrates your love and commitment. It offers flexibility in the organization. We always recommend having the legally recognized wedding ceremony in your home country. The symbolic (free) wedding ceremony in Portugal is all about you and your story!
This decision depends on your wishes. A civil wedding ceremony is legally binding, whereas a symbolic wedding ceremony offers more freedom in terms of design. We will be happy to advise you!
